Taking part in the congress were social workers and relatives of students and graduates on scholarships in Cuba, as well as representatives of over twenty solidarity organizations from the nine provinces of the country who gathered to debate issues of vital importance for Cuba.

According to Rafael Daussá, Cuban ambassador to Bolivia, the Bolivian Solidarity Movement has gone through a process of improvement and consolidation over the last few years.

Participants will include in the final declaration of the meeting a statement demanding a fair trial and the return to Cuba of the Cuban Five, antiterrorist fighters who have been imprisoned in the United States for over eleven years.

The gathering concluded with a tribute to Che Guevara, in the place where his remains lay for three decades together with those of his guerrilla comrades in Ñancahuazú.

Meanwhile, the Bolivian government announced that a facsimile edition of the diaries of Che Guevara will be released at the Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of the Americas, to take place from October 16 to 17 in Cochabamba.
