Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer SA will deliver its new bid to sell light attack aircraft to the U.S. Air Force before the end of June, and a decision is expected in January 2013, the company's president, Frederico Curado, said Friday.
"We are confident that our aircraft is good," Curado told reporters after a meeting of business leaders at the National Confederation of Industries in Sao Paulo.
The U.S. government in February canceled a $355 million contract with Embraer and its partner, Sierra Nevada Corp., after the documentation supporting the contract was questioned by U.S. aircraft manufacturer Hawker Beechcraft Corp.
The sale of 20 Embraer A-29 Super Tucano light combat aircraft for use in Afghanistan was to have been the first deal between Embraer and the Air Force.
