Peru and Venezuela seek to strengthen bilateral trade relations with their meeting on productive complementary this week, Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister, Jose Luis Silva, said on Thursday.
Silva said this will be a "historic meeting" as it brings together, for the first time, a large number of businessmen from both nations, as well as a delegation of Peruvian lawmakers who will meet with their Venezuelan counterparts.
"This means that bilateral relations between Peru and Venezuela keep improving, and we believe that these meetings help strengthen trade ties and make both countries grow by promoting productive partnerships and complementarities between the two sides," he told Andina news agency.
The minister reiterated that “in the midst of global crisis, the Peruvian government encourages small and medium entrepreneurs to explore business opportunities in South American countries such as Venezuela.
The global crisis made us redirect our exports to neighboring countries and that is what we have done with ExpoPerú, held in neighboring nations, he added.
Minister Silva is leading a delegation of Peruvian entrepreneurs attending the "Peru-Venezuela Meeting on Productive Complementarity", held from August 16-17 at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry of Venezuela.
