The early report cards are out in President Donald Trump's new administration and there are three who better get their grades up this next marking period if they want to keep their jobs, according to several reports.
At the top of the list is national security adviser Michael Flynn, around whom the walls seem to closing in. But there's also anxiety surrounding the performances of Trump's establishment-side West Wingers — Sean Spicer and Reince Priebus.
"Spread the butter: He is toast," a top source told Axios. "Lying to Pence damaged Pence's credibility and the administration's. That is an unpardonable sin." Spicer has reportedly been in Trump's crosshairs — as well as the media's — since Week 1, and Priebus is seen as too weak to be chief of staff.
Politico reported that Trump asks confidants about Spicer's performance as press secretary; the more questions he asks, the worse it gets for the subject of the questions.
"He only asks you a lot of questions when he's unhappy," a source told Politico. "If he thinks things are going well, he just tells you how well it's going."
But perspective is also needed to balance out the equation - Trump hasn't hit the 1-month mark yet.
"I think they're getting their sea legs more and more and some of the growing pains will go away in time," Rep. Tom Reed told Politico.
"He's a loyal guy, but he's from the private sector, and he'll want to see results. As long as he sees progress, I think he'll keep his current staff around for the foreseeable future."
