Polymer Group, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: POLGA; POLGB) today announced it, through its joint venture Dominion Nonwovens Sudamericana S.A. (DNS), has finalized a contract with Reifenhauser REICOFIL to purchase a state-of-the-art spunbond line for the previously announced expansion of the DNS facility near Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The new wide-width, multi-beam line will be a Reifenhauser REICOFIL 4 spunbond line that will more than double the capacity of the Argentina location. The new line comes in response to customers' needs for its products in the South American region. Continued growth in the Mercosur trading region is driving customer demand for the high-quality materials that PGI has built a reputation for providing at DNS.
The company will begin construction of the new facility in the fourth quarter of this year and expects to complete installation of the line by the end of fiscal year 2007. This will enable DNS to begin producing high-quality fine denier products for customers that meet the highest standards in the industry.
Polymer Group's interim chief executive officer, William B. Hewitt, stated, "PGI's strategy of growing on a global basis to provide the right products where customers need them continues to be a focus for our business.
