Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu and Peruvian Prime Minister Salomon Lerner on Friday discussed ways to strengthen the strategic partnership and practical cooperation between the two countries.
Hui said China's relations with Peru, one of the first
Latin American countries to forge diplomatic ties with New China, have
maintained a momentum of rapid development since the establishment of the
China-Peru strategic partnership in 2008.
With the implementation of the China-Peru Free Trade
Agreement, bilateral trade and mutual investment have been growing fast and
people-to-people exchanges expanding, Hui said.
China attaches great importance to its relations with
Peru and stands ready to work with Peru to enrich the content of their
strategic partnership and advance practical cooperation in various areas, he
said.
Lerner said Peru has always regarded China as a reliable
friend, and the Peruvian government views the bilateral ties from a strategic
perspective and welcomes continued Chinese investment in Peru.
He hoped the two countries would expand cooperation in
such areas as economy and trade, investment, energy, agriculture, mining,
finance and power generation.
Hui and Lerner later attended a signing ceremony for
cooperation agreements on economy, technology and finance.
