The first agreement aims at enhancing cooperation in the prevention of spread of weapons of mass destruction and tackling non-conventional threats like drugs and piracy. It also calls for exchange of training expertise and personnel for military courses.

The second pact establishes an exchange program that promotes the provision of scholarships for higher education and encourages the exchange of research material and teaching aides.

The two countries also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of a joint commission that will be an intergovernmental consultation mechanism to promote, strengthen and diversify bilateral relations.

Finally, the fourth agreement is a Letter of Intent between the Culture Ministries of Peru and India for cooperation in the fields of museum development, conversation of movable cultural property and dissemination and promotion of cultural heritage.

These agreements were signed on Monday at the end of Indian Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari’s three-day visit to the South American country.
