THE European Union (EU) today announced that Commissioner of Police Commission Owen Ellington will have at his disposal the service of two high ranking policemen from North America.
"As of next week two international crime experts will be at the disposal of commission Owen Ellington," said Head of EU Delegation Ambassador Marco Mazzocchi-Alemanni during a grant signing ceremony at the Rennock Lodge All Age School in Rockfort, East Kingston.
The salaries of the two cops will be funded by the EU at a cost of US$300,000.
The cops, one from Canada and the other a high ranking officer from Los Angeles, California, will be stationed in Jamaica for a duration of between six months to a year.
"They will start with that and then we will see if they can extend (their time with the Jamaica Constabulary Force)," he said.
