11/08/2009 | Pakistan - After Mehsud: The rest of the Pakistani Taliban won't be such easy targets.
Nicholas Schmidle | Slate
Earlier this summer, the Taliban released a DVD that suggested Baitullah Mehsud was losing his mojo. 11/08/2009 | US - Is 'Islam' at war with us?
Frank J. Gaffney Jr. | Center for Security Policy
Last week, John Brennan, the assistant to the President for homeland security and counterterrorism approvingly recalled a key point in the speech Mr. Obama delivered in Cairo in June: "America is not and never will be at war with Islam." Unfortunately, that statement ignores the fact that the decision as to whether the United States is at war with anybody is not entirely up to our leadership or people. The real question is: Is ‘Islam' at war with us? ...

The camcorder shakes as it films the thud of thick .50 caliber bullets ripping through a steel plate target in the heat of the Arizona desert. Panning across the jagged rocks and cacti, the camera then focuses on the shooter: a smiling Mexican sitting down on the dust as he uses both hands to fire the huge state-of-the-art weapon that can tear through tank armor. ...
