Hace solo dos meses, fui con una delegación de 70 observadores internacionales a Lima para garantizar una segunda vuelta electoral libre y transparente en Perú. El proceso electoral funcionó, y nuestros vecinos en el sur están realizando un traspaso pacífico del poder. Afirmaría que este proceso democrático –encabezado por la Organización de Estados Americanos– es una parte vital del interés nacional de Estados Unidos.
