Tegucigalpa - Honduran journalist Medardo Flores, member of the National Popular Resistance Front (FNRP), was killed in the northern department of Cortes, the 16th assassination of its type in less than two years.

 

According to Radio Globo, the killing took place last night in the sector Rio Blanquito, Cortes, where strangers ambushed the victim, who was traveling in a car.

Flores was a farmer, rancher, and last year he graduated as popular journalist from the School of Broadcasters of the Institute of Communication Science of Radio Uno, in San Pedro Sula.

He was also a member of the Finance Department of the FNRP, led by former President Manuel Zelaya.

Honduran police did not report Flores violent assassination. His death raises to 16 the number of journalists killed in Honduras since the coup in 2009, which have not been clarified until now by the authorities.
