In just five days, ATFA members and other supporters around the world have transmitted thousands of letters, urging World Bank and IDB leadership to consider Argentina's unprecedented 2005 restructuring and repudiation of more than $20 billion in bonds when making loan decisions:  

" ... We urge you to use your voice and vote 'No' to deny access to loans to Argentina until this matter is resolved ... This position is in the interests of the people of Argentina, donor nations to multilateral lenders, and private lenders harmed by the actions by the Government of Argentina ... ATFA's website at: http://ga3.org/campaign/atfa_vote_no .   The letter campaign follows an August 16 letter to U.S. Secretaries Rice and Paulson from ATFA Co-chairs Dr. Robert Shapiro and Ambassador Nancy Soderberg in which they formally asked that the Departments of State and Treasury use their voting power at various multilateral lending bodies to intensify efforts to persuade Argentina to repay American creditors.
